One of the greatest challenges of leadership is the communication of bad news. In any organization, it is inevitable that bad things will happen. These can include financial setbacks, adverse regulatory findings, damaging employee behavior or a host of other situations outside the leader’s power to prevent.
From the outside, it can seem like a simple task: “Just tell us what happened.” But communication of bad news, and the tone of that communication, can have lasting impact on an organization, both internally and externally.
